Our supplier mining tool provides organisations’ with the opportunity to understand what workers, managers and owners think about their working environment.
Combining cutting-edge mobile and online survey technology, supported by HR best practice, for the first time both buyer and supplier can obtain an accurate and insightful view of a workplace. Reflecting ETI and FLA base code standards, with country specific worker regulation and modern HR best practice, we have developed 2 surveys:
worker mining – A multilingual, web, IVR and social media based questionnaire which captures the workers (managers and workers) view of their factory/site across Worker Demographics, Experience, CSR, Culture and Cohesion and Engagement. Questions ensure we capture a robust and accurate picture of working practices, environment and experience.
site mining – A web based questionnaire which captures the Demographics, Labour Practices, H&S and CSR, HR & People Metrics of the factory/site. Questions capture quantifiable data in which to compare and contrast with the worker mining survey results
Suppliers have 4-6 weeks to complete both surveys before data is analysed to present a clear and quantifiable picture of the factory/site. Buyer and supplier then mine the gaps together to ensure minimum compliance standards – based on ETI, FLA or buyer’s internal Code of Conduct – are met, and worker conditions and labour provisions are in line with HR best practice to create sustainable change. Buyer and supplier then monitor changes in line with agreed timelines.
Providing a more transparent, insightful view of the workplace, buyers can confidently move away from traditional face-to-face auditing whilst suppliers for the first time can embed the supplier mining tool as a valuable HR engagement survey which can help inform them on how to improve labour practices.
Our supplier mining tool can be used on many different levels:
- Provide a current state of the factory across labour and ethical practices (as outlined via ETI, FLA and country specific regulation)
- Be used to help suppliers embed HR best practice tools within their organisation
- An alternative to an audit
- A benchmark in which to measure the impact of change (e.g., the roll out of a training programme)
- An opportunity for buyers to implement a worker-centric model moving away from a compliance-driven framework
- The ability for buyers to manager their supply chain based on Human Capital Risk
Our supplier mining tool satisfies compliance and regulatory standards, provides quantifiable data which can be used to benchmark and measure, tools of benefit to both buyer and supplier, and for the first time a worker-centric model which empowers the worker and will ultimately drive sustainable change.
